CLEvolution: Understanding the Numbers 

You may have seen different cost estimates associated with the future of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Here is where those figures came from and what is accurate today.

Where did the $3 billion figure come from?
The $3 billion estimate came from CLE’s original 2021 master plan, which outlined a long-term vision for the airport through 2039. Since then, the vision, scope and sequencing of the work have changed significantly. That figure is outdated and does not represent the current CLEvolution program.

What is the current estimate?
The current estimate for CLEvolution's landside program is approximately $1.6 billion. This includes major improvements to parking, ground transportation and the terminal headhouse.

Additional elements of CLEvolution are still being planned and developed. As that work progresses, individual project costs and the overall program investment will continue to be refined.

Why the difference?
The original master plan and today’s CLEvolution program are not a direct comparison. CLEvolution has evolved as projects have been further developed, priorities have been refined and the airport has worked with its airline partners and other stakeholders.
