A Bold Departure.
Gold Lot Groundbreaking Launches CLEvolution
On July 1, 2026, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) officially broke ground on the Gold Lot Parking Development Project, marking the start of CLEvolution, our multi-year Terminal Modernization Program.
City and airport leaders joined project partners and community members to celebrate this once-in-a-generation milestone. The Gold Lot groundbreaking marks the first real step forward in CLEvolution and the beginning of visible transformation at CLE.
The Gold Lot project will add 1,600 new parking spaces by late 2026 or early 2027 and prepare the site for major future improvements. These include construction of a new 6,000-space parking garage, a new Ground Transportation Center, and a relocated RTA Station, all planned to open in 2029.
Together, these projects will create a more convenient, efficient, and seamless travel experience for passengers across Northeast Ohio.
CLEvolution reflects CLE’s long-term commitment to modernizing infrastructure, improving the passenger experience, and supporting the region’s growth.
More updates will follow as the project advances.
